Bony Orbit

A pyramidal-shaped eye cavity (orbital fossa) that houses the eye globe.

Seven Bones of the Orbit

The seven bones that form the orbit: Frontal, Ethmoid, Maxilla, Lacrimal, Zygomatic, Palatine, and Sphenoid.

Diplopia in Orbital Blowout Fracture

Double vision resulting from muscle entrapment, which causes the eye to have difficulty moving in different directions.

Orbital Rim

The outer rim of the orbit composed of the Maxilla and Zygomatic bones.

Optic Canal (Foramen)

An opening located in the lesser wing of the sphenoid bone in the orbit.

Superior Orbital Fissure

An anatomical fissure located between the lesser wing and greater wing of the sphenoid bone.

Inferior Orbital Fissure

An anatomical fissure located on the inferior lateral wall of the bony orbit.

Fossa for Lacrimal Sac

A depression located near the lacrimal bone and maxilla on the anterior-medial wall of the orbit.

Orbital Blowout Fracture Presentation

A trauma condition presenting with eye swelling, ecchymosis, decreased visual acuity, decreased cheek sensation, and diplopia due to muscle entrapment.
