Carbon monoxide
A colorless, odorless gas that is harmful to humans and is present in an engine’s exhaust gases.
Emergency brake
A backup braking system in a vehicle, used when regular brakes fail.
Exhaust system
The system that carries harmful fumes from the engine to the rear of the car and releases them.
Skid
To slide uncontrollably on a slippery surface.
Pedestrian
A person who is walking, especially in a city or town.
Traction
The grip of a tire on the road surface, essential for safe driving.

A system used by the Division of Motor Vehicles to track driving violations and assess penalties.
Hydroplaning
When a vehicle’s tires lose contact with the road due to water, causing it to slide uncontrollably.
Vehicle license
A legal document that gives permission to operate a vehicle.

A signal to control the flow of traffic, usually including red, yellow, and green lights.
