You may need to cut it back to stimulate new growth, pruning may become less frequent as growth slows, requires more water on a predictable and slower schedule, soil may become compacted and shrink in the pot, pH of the soil may change and cause nutrient deficiency problems, and fertilizer may build up in soi, causing nutrient toxicity
