What do gas particles do?

They collide since they move at different directions and speeds.

2
New cards

What happens when gas particles collide?

They exert a force and create pressure

3
New cards

What happens in a sealed container?

The outward gas pressure is the total force exerted by all of the particles in the gas ona unit area of the container walls. (the combined force of all these collisions in a certain area).

4
New cards

What is the impact of frequent collisions?

The net force will increase, and so gas pressure. if the temperature increases, the speed increases, and so the pressure (if the volume is kept constant).

5
New cards

What happens if the temperature is constant?

The volume of the gas will increase, meaning the particles will spread out more, making them hit the container walls less often. this decreases gas temperature.

6
New cards

What’s the relationship between pressure and volume.

They are inversely proportional to each other.

7
New cards

What’s the formula for constant?

Constant = pressure x volume // pV = constant

8
New cards

What’s the impact of pressure on volume?

The pressure of a gas causes the net ouwards force to right angles on the surface of its container. is the container can easily change its size, then any change in these pressures will cause the container to compress or expand, due tp the overall force.

What’s the impact of doing work on gas?

increases the internal energy, therefore, increasing the temperature.
