Random sample
All individuals in a population have the same chance to be chosen
Cluster sample
divided into smaller groups and entire groups are randomly selected instead of individually.
stratified sample
Population is divided in groups with common factors and proportional sample is taken
Systematic sample
Individuals are selected using a fixed interval
Convinience sample
Specific people chosen since they can be easier to reach
Capture sample
Capturing and marking a portion of the population then recapture them back and take note of the marked ones and unmarked
Non-random sample
Not every individual in a population has an equal chance of being included
