Bunkhouse

Graybacks
Slang for lice or tiny biting insects.
Handy
Good at fighting or physical work; skilled with one’s hands (used to describe Curley). VERY USEFUL!!!!
Bucking barley
Throwing large sacks of grain; heavy farm labor.
Peeled
Worn down, used up, or exhausted (used to describe beds and objects).
Derogatory
Insulting or disrespectful.
Contorted
Twisted or pulled out of its normal shape.
Apprehensive
Worried or nervous about something that may happen.
Skeptical
Doubting; not easily convinced.
Liniment
A medicated liquid rubbed on sore muscles.
Vials
Small glass bottles used to hold liquids.
Ominous
Hinting that something bad may happen.
Complacent
Too relaxed or confident, sometimes when danger is near.
Derision
Mockery; laughter meant to make fun of someone.
Handy
VERY useful
Brittle
Hard but easily broken; stiff or fragile.
Slough
To get rid of something, often used for killing (said about Curley’s old dog).
Profound
Deep or meaningful; showing great understanding.
Cultivator
A farming tool used to prepare soil.
Hitch
To tie or attach something, such as a horse.
Mussed
Rumpled or messy in appearance.
Rassle
Slang for 'wrestle' or struggle physically.
