Functions of the circulatory system
Transportation, respiratory, nutrition, excretory, regulation, and protection
Epidermis
all the glands; mammary, sebaceous, sweat, hair.
Dermis
nerves and blood supply of the skin are located here
Hypodermis
stores lipids, insulates and cushions, and connects dermis to organs
What does the circulatory system transport in the context of respiratory?
Red blood cells carry O2 to cells, CO2 is carried, by blood, to the lungs
What does the circulatory system transport in the context of nutrition?
circulatory system and the GI tract work together to breakdown food so it can be absorbed through the intestinal wall and into the blood vessels of the circulatory system.
What does the circulatory system transport in the context of excretion?
metabolic waste, extra water and ions in the plasma are filtered through capillaries of the kidneys to excrete through urine.
Regulation and Protection in the circulatory system
where there is a potential injury the circulatory system carries hormones, molecules, or white blood cells (leukocytes) to provide immunity.

Heart and blood vessels pump blood to the heart and then all parts of the body. Blood vessels form tubular networks to permit blood flow
