Variable

A symbol, usually a letter like x or y, used to represent an unknown value or a number that can change.

Slope-Intercept Form

The standard way to write the equation of a line: y = mx + b, where m represents the slope and b represents the y-intercept.

Distributive Property

A mathematical property used to multiply a single term by two or more terms inside parentheses: a(b + c) = ab + ac.

Quadratic Formula

The formula used to determine the roots of a quadratic equation in the form ax^2 + bx + c = 0: x = \frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}.

Function

A relation in which every input (x-value) is associated with exactly one output (y-value).
