CL
Paul a servant of Christ Jesus called to be an apostle and set apart for the Gospel of God
1
CL
For I am not ashamed of the Gospel because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes first to the Jews then to the Gentiles
1
CL
For although the knew God they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened
1
CL
Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them
1
CL
You therefore have no excuse you who pass judgment on someone else for whatever point you judge another you are condemning yourself because you who pass judgment do the same things
2
CL
All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law
2
CL
If you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind a light for those who are in the dark an instructor of the foolish a teach of little children because you have in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth
2
CL
Circumcision has value if you observe the Law but if you break the Law you ahve become as though you had not been circumcised
2
CL
But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been made known
3
CL
For all sinned and fall short of the glory of God
3
CL
All are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came in Christ Jesus
3
CL
God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement through the shedding of his blood
3
CL
For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law
3
CL
Do we then nullify the Law by this faith? Not at all. Rather we uphold the law
3
CL
If Abraham was justified by works he had something to boast about
4
CL
Therefore the promise comes by faith so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring
4
CL
He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification
4
CL Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
5
CL But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were sinners, Christ died for us.
5
CL Just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people.
5
CL The Law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more.
5
CL For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.
6
CL In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus
6
CL For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
6
CL For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
6
CL So then, the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous, and good.
7
CL We know that the Law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin
7
CL I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.
7
CL Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord.
7
CL Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
8
CL I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
8
CL And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
8
CL No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us
8
CL For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel
9
CL “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
9
CL Therefore, God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.
9
CL Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes
10
CL If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10
CL “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
10
CL “May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever.”
11
CL Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all!
11
CL And in this way all Israel will be saved.
11
CL Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship.
12
CL Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
12
CL Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
12
CL Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
12
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.
13
If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
13
Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the Law.
13
So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light
13
Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh
13
Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters
14
Therefore, let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister
14
Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification
14
Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up
15
Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you.
15
I plan to do so when I go to Spain. I hope to see you while passing through and to have you assist me on my journey there
15
I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon of the church in Cenchreae
16
urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.
16
To the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.
