First Amendment

Freedom of religion (establishments and free exercise clauses), speech, press, assembly, and petition

Second Amendment

Ensures right to keep and bear arm

Third Amendment

No quartering of soldiers in peacetime

Fourth Amendment

No unreasonable search and seizure - must have probable cause to get a warrant

Fifth Amendment

No self-incrimination, guarantees of due process, right to a grand jury, no double jeopardy, and eminent domain

Sixth Amendment

guarantees right to a speedy & public trial with an impartial jury; to confront & call witnesses; and to have an attorney

Seventh Amendment

preserves right to a jury trial in civil cases

Eighth Amendment

Ensures no excessive bails or fines, nor cruel or unusual punishments

Ninth Amendment

Enumerates the rights of the people (the people are guaranteed other rights even if they are not listed in the Bill of Rights)

Tenth Amendment

Reserves powers of the states and the people

Eleventh Amendment

Restricts lawsuits against states

Twelfth Amendment

Provides for the election of the president and vice-president by separate ballot in electoral college

Thirteenth Amendment

Abolishes slavery

Guarantees rights of citizenship, due process applies to the states, and equal protection under the law

Guarantees citizen's right to vote no matter their race, color, or previous condition of servitude

Authorizes income tax

Establishes direct election of senators by popular vote

Eighteenth Amendment

Prohibits manufacture, sale and trasportation of alcohol (prohibition)

Nineteenth Amendment

Establishes women's suffrage
