Abrogation (Naskh)
Literally means “to erase, or remove” in Arabic. In the Quran, it refers to repealing a legal order through legal argument or a later verse changing a ruling established by an earlier verse.
Abrogated (منسوخ)
The old cancelled order in the context of abrogation.
Abrogator (ناسخ)
The newly replaced order in the context of abrogation.
Subjects of verses that typically do NOT contain abrogation
Issues related to dogma principles (knowledge about Allah), basics of worship, ethics and morals, and news/stories of prophets.
How to realize the abrogated text
1) A text contains a word indicating abrogation. 2) The nation's consensus. 3) Identifying the late and early dates of verse revelation.
Types of abrogation in the Quranic text
Abrogate the recite and the verdict altogether, abrogate the verdict and keep reciting, copying the recitation and keeping the verdict.
Reasons for copying the verdict and keeping the recitation
Reciting grants reward, and it provides facilitation and ease on people.
Kinds of abrogation
Abrogation with no alternative, abrogation with replacement (easier, same, heavier).
Wisdom behind abrogation
The mercy of God, the development of legislation, testing believers' compliance, and Allah wanting the best for the Ummah.
