Titration
A technique to determine the concentration of a solution (analyte) by reacting it with a solution of known concentration (titrant).
Standard Solution
A solution of accurately known concentration used in titration.
Equivalence Point
The point in a titration where the amount of titrant added is chemically equivalent to the amount of analyte in the sample.
Indicator
A substance added to the titration which changes color at or near the equivalence point.
Phenolphthalein
A common acid-base indicator that is colorless in acidic solutions and pink in basic solutions.
HCl
The chemical formula for hydrochloric acid, a strong acid used as the titrant.
NaOH
The chemical formula for sodium hydroxide, a strong base whose concentration is being determined.
Volumetric Material
Volumetric flask, pipette, burette.
