An animal that has never been vaccinated for rabies and is exposed to a rabid animal must either be euthanized immediately or placed in strict isolation for how many months? In ferrets, this period is 6 months. Upon entry to isolation, a rabies vaccine must be administered. If this is not done, then the period is extended to 6 months.

If a currently vaccinated animal is exposed to rabies, then revaccination, wound cleansing and observation for how many days should be done? This will be under owner supervision. If a patient is overdue, then a booster is applied and this same program is generally followed, although a public health official may choose to increase the observation period.

In currently vaccinated livestock exposed to rabies, you must revaccinate immediately and observe them for how many days? You are not mandated to isolate it from the herd as they are not likely to spread it to other members. If the animal is overdue, this is evaluated case-by-case.

Regardless of vaccination status, a healthy domestic animal that exposes a person to rabies must be confined and observed daily for how many days from the time of exposure? Administration of a vaccine is not recommended as this would confuse the onset of clinical signs. If signs are suspected then the animal should be euthanized and tested.
