Wendy: I do believe it is Peter again mother
(Rush on enthusiastically) Good evening, I am the Narrator, here to fill in crucial information regarding the plot and character, plus a dollop of description.
Mrs darling: No thank you
But… (watch her shake head) I see. (Exit after wendy’s next line)
Wendy: Wait, Peter!
(Enter) Feeling that peter was on his way back, the Neverland had again woke into life. We ought to use the pluperfect and say wakend, but woke is better and was always used by Peter. (Pirates start moving towards me) If you put your ear to the ground you would hear the whole island seething with life. (pirates get real close) Oh, time to go is it? (they nod) Cheerio! (exit)
Peter (right after the audience saved twink): Thank you! Thank you dreamers all!! Now to rescue Wendy!
(Rush on mid scene change) Oh good. A scene change! The perfect time for narration! The brig, the Jolly Roger lay low in the water, a rakish looking, speedy craft, foul to the hull, every beam in her detestable, every plank worn almost bare by the years and her pirates. (Cecco tell us to get off) (quickly) Hook trod the deck.
Hook (scared of the crocodile): Hide me, mateys.
(Rush on as the action freezes) Odd things happen to all of us on our way through life without our noticing for a time that they have happened. For instance, we suddenly discover that we have been deaf in one ear for at a minimum, let us say, a half hour. We last saw Peter saving tink and rushing off to save the Wendy, dagger at the ready. As he swung from tree to tree on jungle vines, he passed the crocodile, and in a flash, decided to tick himself, so any wild beasts about should believe he was the crocodile. However, the crocodile itself heard the sound and it followed him- though whether the croc followed to eliminate the competition or merely make a ticking friend, will never herein be clarified. As Peter swam to the jolly roger, he remembered he was ticking and in a flash, realized he could turn in to good account.
Peter: How clever of me!
So, at that very moment, Peter boarded the boat, tick as he came. Just a few things to think about.
Wendy: I suppose I shall miss it all (lights all go out besides one)
Me again. Only be a moment. We must now return to that desolate home from which Wendy took flight so long ago. Mrs. Darling has been ever so worried and sits night after night in the nursery with Nana the dog beside her. Mr Darling has sentenced himself to live under Wends bed as he felt in his bones that the blame was his for having chained Nana up and thus allowed Peter Pan to lure Wendy away.
Peter: Goodbye. Carry me, wind! (peter jumps through window while the rest of the stage freezes and the lights go out.)
Me again. Peter came next spring cleaning and that was the last time Wendy ever saw him. For a little longer she tried for his sake not to have growing pains.
But the years came and went. Wendy was married in white with a pink sash. Later she had a daughter called Jane, who always had an odd, inquiring look and asked an unfortunate lot of questions. Wendy told her of Peter Pan and the flight from the nursery, up among the stars to Neverland.
That’s quite enough of me
Wendy: oh Peter
As you look at her… (gets shoe’d off by Wendy)
