main aim
to argue that God exists as the first cause
premise one
the world contains causes
premise two
nothing can be the cause of itself
if something could be the cause of itself it would have to exist before itself which is impossible
premise three
if the series of causes was infinite there wouldn’t be a first cause
premise four
if there was no first cause there wouldn’t be no subsequent causes which contradicts premise one
conclusion
therefore there is a first cause and this is what we call God
