The Mole
The amount of substance containing the same number of discrete entities (atoms, molecules, ions, etc.) as the number of atoms in a sample of pure 12C weighing exactly 12g.
Atomic Mass Unit (amu)
A unit of measurement for atomic masses based on 121th of a Carbon-12 (12C) atom's mass.
Avogadro's Number (NA)
The number of particles in 1mol of a substance, equal to 6.022×1023 items.
Molar Mass
The mass of 1mol of a substance, measured in gmol−1.
Conversion Factor
A ratio which represents the relationship between the same quantity in two different units, always equal to 1.
Number of Moles Equation
The formula n=Mm, where n is the number of moles, m is the mass of the sample, and M is the molar mass.
