A noun that shows belonging or ownership.
Possess
To have or own something.
Singular noun possessive rule
Add 's (apostrophe + s) to the noun.

A punctuation marker that tells us someone or something owns or has something.
The boy's bike
A phrase meaning the bike belongs to the boy.
The captain's ship
A phrase meaning the ship belongs to the captain.
Maya's backpack
The possessive form of the phrase "the backpack of Maya".
The student's room
The possessive form of the phrase "the room of the student".
Possessive noun formula
Noun + 's = possessive noun (Example: dog → dog's).
