Ferrous Metals
The group of metals having Iron as their main constituent.
Importance of Iron
Iron in it’s pure form is soft, malleable and ductile, however when it is alloyed with other elements it is one of the most valuable metal to the engineer.
Alloy
A base metal to which small amounts of other metals have been added.
Wrought Iron
Tough, Malleable, Ductile and can be easily welded. Contains a trace to 0.08%of Carbon.
