Ethnicity

Identity with a group of people who share the cultural traditions of a particular homeland or hearth.

Race

Identity with a group of people perceived to share a physiological trait such as skin color.

Nationality

Identity with a group of people who share a legal attachment to a particular country.

Ethnic Enclave

A place with a high concentration of an ethnic group that is distinct from those in the surrounding area.

Chain Migration

The migration of people to a specific location because relatives or members of the same nationality previously migrated there.

Blockbusting

Real estate practice where agents induce panic selling in white homeowners by suggesting that racial minorities are moving in, leading to increased property resale values.

Jim Crow Laws

State and local laws that enforced racial segregation in the Southern United States.

Apartheid

A policy or system of segregation or discrimination on grounds of race in South Africa.

Ethnic Cleansing

Purposeful policy designed to remove by violent and terror-inspiring means, the civilian population of another ethnic or religious group from an area.

Genocide

Mass killing of a group of people in an attempt to eliminate the entire group from existence.
