What is meant by the term ‘particle’?

The dimensions of the object are neglible

• rotational forces / air resistance can be ignored

What is meant by the term ‘rod’?

All dimensions except 1 are negligible

What assumptions can be made about a ‘rod’? (list 3)

• Mass concentrated along a single line

• No thickness

• Rigid structure

What is meant by the term ‘lamina’?

An object with an area but a negligible thickness (eg sheet of paper)

What assumption can be made about a ‘lamina’?

Mass is distributed across a flat surface

What is meant by the term ‘uniform body’?

Mass is distributed evenly
