Summarize Plessy v Ferguson. Then mention how its verdict affected America

Homer Plessy, a 1/8 % black, was forced to leave a whites only car to move to a colored car. He wanted to stop segregation but the action did not abide the 14th amendment.

This would eventually lead to the national approval for segregation and create the Jim Crow Laws

  • terrible fire that burned on the 7th floor of a building, firefighters were only able to reach the 5th

  • This caused buildings to have a sprinkler system and fire drills

  • Also provided new technology for firefighters: new truck designs that could go up many floors for the city buildings
