Order of Operations
The step-by-step rules used to solve any mathematical problem containing more than one operation.
Parentheses
The first grouping evaluated in a multi-operation expression; if multiple operations exist inside them, the order of operations must be applied within them.
Multiplication and Division
Operations evaluated after parentheses, performed in sequential order from left to right.
Addition and Subtraction
The final operations evaluated in a mathematical expression, performed in sequential order from left to right.

Order of Operations Hierarchy Chart
A visual guide illustrating the sequence of steps: Parentheses, followed by Multiplication and Division from left to right, and Addition and Subtraction from left to right.

Worked Order of Operations Examples
Step-by-step worked solutions demonstrating how 10×3+(18÷9)=32 and 25−3×4+16=29 are solved using the correct order of operations.
