Activation Energy
The amount of energy needed to start a reaction
Exothermic Reactions
Reactions that take in energy. (Products that have more energy than the reactants)
Endothermic Reactions
Reactions that take in energy. (Products that have more energy than the reactants)
Concentration
The amount of matter (reactants) in a given volume of another material.
Surface Area
Increasing surface area increases rate of reaction
Temperature
Increasing temp. increases rate of reaction. Adds energy to atoms which move apart, bonds break, and new bonds form. Decreasing temperature slows movement of atoms. Frozen/Solid - Atoms stop moving and can not react.
Catalysts
Molecules (proteins) that speed up Chemical Reactions without being used up. Enzymes are proteins. They are biological catalylysts
Inhibitor
a thing that blocks molecules from going into the enzyme
