Get to know your trophic levels on ecosystems.

The bottom of the food chain. They get their energy from the sun.

Producers

This is the second organism on the food chain. It gets it’s energy from the producer and all herbivores are in this trophic level.

Primary consumer.

This is the third organism in the food chain. It gets its energy from the primary consumer. Some examples could be birds, snakes,etc.

Secondary consumer.

This is the fourth organism in the food chain. Somne examples could be lions, eagles and sharks. These are pretty high up in the food chain.

Tertiary consumer.

This is another consumer in the food chain. It is quite high up, and gets its energy from the tertiary consumer.

The Quaternary consumer

This consumer is at the very top. Very intricate food webs may include this trophic level, because most chains just stop at the quaternary consumer. This is like the GOAT of the food chain.
