What is leadership

• Is the ability to influence and motivate employees of a business to achieve objectives

• Good leadership isnt one dimensional, good leaders will be able to adapt and modify their behaviour depending on the situation

• A challenge at best of times and even more critical during periods of change

Why is leadership so important during change?

• When change occurs,employees and other stakeholders will be affected

• Can cause resistance as changes will require a shift away from what they have previously done to a new unfamiliar state

Actions of a good leader includes

• Effectively communication the vision and reasons behind change on a continual basis

• Being willing to listen to and address any employee concerns regarding change

• Proactively identifying/resolving conflicts that may arise as change is implemented and offer support to those affected

• Being a source of motivation for acceptance of change
