Financial Difficulties
One of the most common factors that influence the career choice is the financial situation of the family.
Culture and Physical Environment
The environment of the adolescent is also responsible for cultivating and honing the type of career he/she wants to have
Available Opportunities and Economic Demands
Borchert also stressed that career success is dependent on the career or job opportunities that are suitable to the skills, knowledge, and abilities of a person. The demand of the environment or economy for this career is also significant.
Gender Stereotyping
There are many careers that are still identified for a specific gender. In spite of the progress in promoting gender equality, there remains the fact that there are people who view specific jobs as more suitable to a specific gender.
Peers
Aside from family members, adolescents also consider the opinions of their peers when making a career decision.
Skills and Job Mismatch
Year after year, universities and schools produce graduates. Some of them find immediate employment while some will have to compete with a pool of other job applicants. This means that the training of the applicant does not meet the requirements of the employers.
Skills shortage
It is characterized by the great demand for skill but with a few supplies of people bearing that skill.
Qualification mismatch
It happens when the qualification of an individual does not match the required credentials to perform that job correctly.
Skills gap
It occurs when the skills of the person are different from what is required to do the job properly.
Career Counseling
The history of guidance and counseling in the Philippines can be traced back to the need to counsel students in the job/career that they can take.
Values and Religious Beliefs
There are people who put importance on their religious and spiritual beliefs when choosing a career like nuns, priests, and preachers.
