Exponential Function
A function with the variable as the exponent.
Infinity
The concept of something going on forever.
Variable
An unknown value, usually represented by a letter.
Exponent
The subscript written to the top right of a number or letter, representing multiplication of the base by itself.
Growth
Increasing slope; to get larger.
Decay
Decreasing slope; to get smaller.
Domain
All of the x-values included in the function.
Range
All of the y-values included in the function.
y-Intercept
The ordered pair where the line crosses the y-axis.
Parent Function
The simplest form of a function.
Transformation
Moving or changing the parent function.
Vertical Stretch
To lengthen a graph vertically, making it narrower.
Vertical Compression
To shorten a graph vertically, making it wider.
Reflection
A mirroring of a graph over the x-axis.
Exponential Growth Function
Exponential functions with an increasing slope.
Exponential Decay Function
Exponential functions with a decreasing slope.
Linear Function
A function that produces a straight line when graphed.
Quadratic Function
A function that produces a parabola when graphed.
Line
A straight path between points (constant slope).
Translation
A movement up or down of the graph.
