Unit

In metric conversions, a single letter written by itself (such as G for grams, m for meters, or l for liters) representing the base unit on a conversion chart.

Deci-

The metric prefix used when the measurement abbreviation does not contain an "a", distinguishing deciliters from decaliters.

Leap Year Exception

The rule stating that while a standard leap year must be divisible by $4$, any year that ends in $00$ must be divisible by $400$ to be a leap year.

Conversion Factor

An equality ratio between two different units of measure, such as $16\,\text{ounces} = 1\,\text{pound}$ or $60\,\text{seconds} = 1\,\text{minute}$, used to convert quantities from one unit to another.

Mixed Measure

A expression of quantity using two or more different units of measurement, such as $3\,\text{hours}\,31\,\text{minutes}$ or $20\,\text{yards}\,18\,\text{inches}$.

Dimensional Analysis

A structured unit conversion method where a given measurement is placed over $1$ and multiplied by conversion factors arranged so that unwanted units cancel diagonally.
