Whole-Person Development
An integrated approach to growth that encompasses five dimensions: intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual, and social.
Intellectual Development
The cultivation of the mind involving critical thinking, deep reasoning, continuous learning, and approaching problems with creativity and curiosity.
Critical Thinking
The process of questioning assumptions and evaluating evidence before drawing conclusions.
Information Literacy
The ability to discern reliable sources and apply knowledge responsibly.
Self-Awareness
Recognizing emotions as they occur and understanding how they affect thoughts and actions.
Self-Regulation
Managing impulses, remaining calm under pressure, and choosing a response instead of reacting automatically.
Empathy
Sensing the emotions of others, understanding their perspective, and caring genuinely about their well-being.
Physical Development
Growth focused on the body as the home of the mind, involving movement, nutrition, rest, and body awareness.
Rest & Recovery
Essential periods of sleep and rest necessary for memory consolidation and growth, rather than a sign of laziness.
BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor)
A brain protein promoted by exercise that supports learning, memory, and mood.
Spiritual Development
The pursuit of meaning, purpose, values, and a sense of connection to something greater than oneself, not necessarily tied to religion.
Values and Integrity
Living by core values, maintaining consistency between words and actions, and showing moral courage.
Social Development
Building competencies in communication, collaboration, conflict resolution, and community service.
Collaboration
Working with diverse groups of people toward a shared goal while managing differences respectfully.
