physical change
is the change in a substance that does not change its composition or identity.
physical changes include:
change in shape, size, and phase
melting/liquifying
when solid turns into liquid
freezing
when liquid turns to solid
condensation
when gas turns to liquid
vaporization
when liquid turns into gas
sublimation
solid state to gas w/o passing through liquid state
boiling
the point where water reaches boiling point (100 degrees celsius)
cutting
is when you cut something into pieces or slices.
hammering
he act of applying repeated, forceful blows, often with a hammer or similar tool, to a material or object
twisting
the deformation of an object caused by applying opposing rotational forces (torque) to it
pressing
a manufacturing technique using pressure to shape materials (like metal or plastics)
folding
able to be bent or rearranged into a flatter or more compact shape
bending
the process of deforming or curving an object or so
dissolving
when something dissolves into a liquid or so
elasticity
ability to return into shape after being stretched
rusting/oxidation reaction
is the result of iron being exposed to oxygen, is also a product of corrosion
corrosion
is the term used to describe the process of wearing away of certain materials
combustion/burning
is the scientific term of combustibility
photosynthesis
the process which is where plants make food
fuel oxygen heat
are needed to produce fire
irreversible
the changes in chemical change are
chemical change
is a change in which a substance is changed into a different substance
brittleness
tendency to break easily
flexibility
ability to be bent without breakiing
digestion
is the process of making food absorbable for the body
decomposition
process where by which a substance or material breaks up into parts or simpler compounds
anaerobic decomposition
is a process in which organic matter is decomposed by bacteria in the absence of free oxygen
aerobic decomposition
organic matter decomposes in the presence of free oxygen, usually on ground surfaces
