Solid

A state of matter that has a definite shape and a definite volume

Liquid

A state of matter that has a definite volume but no definite shape.

Gas

A state of matter with no definite shape or volume

Sublimation

A change directly from the solid to the gaseous state without becoming liquid

Deposition

A change directly from the gaseous to solid state without becoming liquid

Melting

The change in state from a solid to a liquid

Evaporation

The change of a substance from a liquid to a gas

Freezing

The change of state from a liquid to a solid

Condensation

The change of state from a gas to a liquid

Mixture

A combination of two or more substances that are not chemically combined

Homogenous mixture (solution)

A mixture in which the composition is uniform throughout

Heterogeneous mixture

A mixture that is not uniform in composition; components are not evenly distributed throughout the mixture

Filtration

The action or process of filtering something.

Decantation

Separates liquid from solid precipitate by pouring off liquid without disturbing solid

Crystillisation

Method used to separate dissolved solids from liquids

Distillation

A process that separates the substances in a solution based on their boiling points

Centrifugation

Separates components by density using high speed spinning

Magnatism

Able to separate metals based on properties of attraction possessed by magnets.
