What is meant when a reactant is in (stoichiometric) excess
More moles of the reactant present than what is required
Not all of the reactant in excess is used up - some will remain unused at the end of the reaction
What is meant when a reactant is referred to as the limiting reagent
The limiting reactant is the reactant not in excess
All of the limiting reagent is used up - therefore its amount determines the amount of the products formed
Find the mass of a liquid
Density = mass÷volume
Mass = density x volume
Percentage yield
(Actual yield of product ÷ theoretical yield of product) x 100
