Computer Network
A system that connects devices (PCs, phones, printers, etc.) to share resources and information.
Local Area Network (LAN)
A network that connects devices within a limited area such as a home or office.
Wide Area Network (WAN)
A telecommunication network that extends over a large geographical area.
Packet Switching
A method of data transmission where data is broken into packets to be sent over a network.
Protocol Stack
A set of network protocols grouped together to communicate over the internet.
IP Address
A unique identifier for a device on a network, used for addressing and routing.
Client-Server Model
A network architecture where a centralized server provides resources and services to multiple clients.
Peer-to-Peer Model (P2P)
A decentralized network model where peers communicate directly without a central server.
Access Networks
Infrastructure connecting end devices to the Internet, can be wired or wireless.
Ethernet
A widely used wired networking technology that supports data transmission over cables.
Wireless LAN (WiFi)
A wireless network that allows devices to connect via radio waves.
Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)
A technology that provides high-speed internet access using existing telephone lines.
Cloud Computing
The delivery of computing services over the internet, enabling storage, processing, and management of data.
Communication Networks
Frameworks that enable the exchange of information between devices over distances.
Types of Access Networks
Wired (DSL, Fiber Optics) and Wireless (WiFi, Cellular) types used to connect to the Internet.
Protocol Layers
The subdivisions of network protocols that help standardize communication processes.
