What does DRS ABCD stand for?

What is the purpose of CPR?
To keep oxygenated blood circulating when the heart has stopped beating effectively
What is the purpose of an AED?
To analyse heart rhythm and deliver a shock to restore normal rhythm
When should CPR be started?
When a person is unresponsive and not breathing normally
What is the compression- to- breath ration in CPR?
30 compressions to 2 breaths
How deep should adult chest compression be?
About 5-6 cm deep
What compression rate should CPR use?
100-120 compressions per minute
What are the basic steps for using an AED
Turn it on, attatch pads, follow voice prompts
Why are CPR and AED used together?
CPR maintains oxygen delivery while the AED restores heart rhythm
Why is rapid defibrillation important?
The longer the heart remains in fibrilation, the lower the survival chance
