Procedure
Officer (Patrol,Traffic/Detectives) WILL:
Initiate actions to solve problems requiring time and resources not normally available to officers responding to dispatched calls for service. Such problems may be crime or equality of life problems that are:
Identified by an officer
Reported to a police officer by a citizen, or
Submitted by a citizen on a service request form (LVMPD 132)
Being the SARA problem-solving process by completing Community Policing Service Request LVMPD 241 nad forwarding it to appropriate area command COP office
Define problems and document pertinent information on the Project Worksheet Log Form (LVMPD 239)
Coordinate with the appropriate COP officers to analyze problems and determine responses
Address problems with planned, systematic responses. Ideally, responses will accomplish one of the following:
Eliminate the problem
Reduce the number of incidents it creates
Reduce the seriousness of incidents it creates
Design methods for a better handling of the incident
Remove the problem from police consideration
Make assessments to determine the effectiveness of responses and follow-up if necessary
Forward copies of the LVMPD 239 and 241 to appropriate COP officer
