It is a COLLECTION OF INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE RELATIONS WITH ONE ANOTHER that make them interdependent to some significant degree.

LARGER, LESS INTIMATE & MORE SPECIALIZED GROUPS where members engage in an IMPERSONAL AND OBJECTIVE ORIENTED relationship for a LIMITED TIME.
In-group
It is a SOCIAL CATEGORY WHERE PEOPLE FEEL THEY BELONG & SHARE A COMMON ORIENTATION, come from common tools and background, and adhere to a common ideology.
MUTUAL EXPRESSION: “in” and “us”
CHARACTERIZED by individuals whose LOYALTY to each other brings out the feeling of togetherness.
The members experience FEELINGS OF COMRADESHIP.
Out-group
THEY FEEL THEY ARE STRANGERS.
A group which is made up of INDIVIDUALS WHO DO NOT SHARE AWARENESS OF KIND/SAME CLASS.
ATTITUDE LEADS TO DISLIKE, AVOIDANCE, and antagonism or even hatred toward people because of our predisposition to perceive our own ingroup as superiors to them
Reference groups
Which people IDENTIFY PSYCHOLOGICALLY & WHICH THEY REFER IN EVALUATING HEMSLEVES & BEHAVIOR.
BECOMES THE INDIVIDUAL’S FRAME OF REFERENCE in relation to his motivations, experiences, attitudes and social affinity.
Serves as SOURCE OF ASPIRATION & GOOD ATTAINMENT.

A STRUCTURE OF RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN SOCIAL ACTORS OR GROUPS.
These are INTERCONNECTIONS, TIES, AND LINKAGES BETWEEN PEOPLE and their groups and the larger social institutions to which they all belong to.
