Schedule 1 provider limits
high potential for abuse, no approved medical use in the US. May not prescribe
Schedule 1 drugs
heroin, LSD (lysergic acid diethlaminde), marijuana, mescaline
Schedule II provider limits
high potential for abuse, can lead to dependance. Must give pt handwritten prescription with no rf. In healthcare facilities, must keep in a seperate storage area from other medications and be locked.
Schedule II drugs
morphine, methadone, oxycodone, hydromorphone, hydrocodone, fentanyl, methamphetamine. handwritten rx
Schedule III drugs provider limits
moderate to low potential for dependence. Rx handwritten but rf up to 5 times in 6 months.
Schedule IV drugs provider limits
low potential for abuse and dependence. Rx handwritten but rf up to 5 times in 6 months. Staff can call in rf
Schedule V drugs provider limits
low potential for abuse and contain small quantities of narcotics. Rx handwritten but rf up to 5 times in 6 months. Staff can call in rf
Schedule III drugs
ketamine, annabolic steroids, testosterone
Schedule IV drugs
diazepam, zolpidem, eszopiclone, alprazolam, chlordiazepoxide, clonazepam
Schedule V drugs
diphenoxylate with atropine, pregabalin, lacosamide, opium/kaolin/pectin, belladonna
