Fluid retention (increases BP + cardiac output)
Precautions
Hx of GI bleeding/ulceration
Alcohol abuse
Renal/hepatic impairment
Contraindications
Active GI bleeding
Thrombocytopenia/bleeding disorders
Asthma (decreased COX-1 leads to overproduction in leukotrienes)
Hypersensitivity
Nursing considerations
Monitor kidney + liver function
Fluid retention (weight, input/output)
Pain level
Patient education
Take w/ food to decrease stomach upset
Report sx of GI bleed → black tarry stools, coffee-ground looking emesis, unresolved tummy pain)
Avoid alcohol
Avoid spicy foods/anything that can hurt tummy
