Japanese Counters (1-10) for Generic Objects

Counting food, small items, or abstract concepts (e.g., ideas, questions). Not used for people, animals, or flat objects (use 人, 匹, 枚 instead).From 11 onwards, numbers are read normally without adding つ.

りんごを一つ（ひとつ）ください。

Give me one apple.

ケーキを二つ（ふたつ）買（か）いました。

I bought two cakes.

質問（しつもん）が三つ（みっつ）あります。

I have three questions.

箱（はこ）に卵（たまご）が四つ（よっつ）入（はい）っています。
