Power
The amount of work done on an object in a unit of time.
Watt
The SI unit for power, equivalent to one Joule per second.
Horsepower
A unit of power equivalent to 746 watts, often used to measure engine power.
Work
Done on an object when it moves in the same direction as the applied force.
Formula for Power
Power = Work / Time or Power = Force x Distance / Time.
Unit of Work
The SI unit for work is Joules.
No motion = no work
Work is not done if there is no motion of the object.
Calculating Work
Work can be calculated using the formula W = Force x Distance.
Units of Force
Force is measured in Newtons.
Units of Distance
Distance is measured in Meters or Kilometers.
