Naloxone
Medication used to reverse the effects of opiates by reversing respiratory depression and hypotension.
Opioid Tolerance
Patients may require higher doses of opioids after extended use due to developing a tolerance to the medication.
Meperidine
Opioid primarily used after GI surgeries for less constipation and urinary retention.
Morphine
Opioid that reduces feelings of pain by interrupting the way nerves signal pain between the brain and the body.
Hydromorphone
Opioid more potent than morphine with less sedation and GI effects, faster onset, and shorter duration.
Fentanyl
Transdermal opioid used for constant chronic pain control.
Antibiotics
Medications grouped into bacteriostatic (inhibit further bacteria growth) and bactericidal (kill bacteria) types.
Culture and Sensitivity
Lab tests needed prior to an antibiotic being ordered to identify the specific bacteria and the most effective antibiotic.

Inhibit further bacteria growth without killing them.
