Human-Centered Design
An approach that places the human experience at the center of the design process, focusing on empathy and user needs.
Exploratory Phase
The initial phase in IDEO's design process where designers conduct research and gather insights about user needs and experiences.
Concepting Phase
The phase where designers generate ideas and hypotheses for solutions based on insights gathered during the exploratory phase.
Prototyping
Creating tangible representations of ideas that users can interact with to gather feedback and improve upon design concepts.
Divergent Thinking
A creative process aimed at generating a wide range of ideas and solutions.
Convergent Thinking
The process of narrowing down options and making decisions on the best ideas.
T-shaped Profile
A person with deep knowledge in one area (the vertical stroke of the 'T') and a broad understanding of other areas (the horizontal stroke of the 'T').
Empathy
The ability to understand and share the feelings of others, which is fundamental in the human-centered design process.
Sacrificial Concepts
Early, rough sketches or prototypes meant to explore ideas without investment in their success.
Cineplanet
Peru's largest cinema chain, which collaborated with IDEO to enhance the movie-going experience.
Design Thinking
A human-centered approach to innovation that integrates user needs, technological possibilities, and business requirements.
Customer Profile
A framework used to organize and analyze customer needs, behaviors, and preferences.
Ideation
The creative process of generating, developing, and communicating new ideas.
Cultural Shift
A significant change in organizational culture that may be required to implement new ideas and processes.
Feedback Loop
The continuous cycle of gathering information from users to refine and improve design concepts.
