2 main phases of eukaryotes cell cycle
Interphase (made up of three stages)
M-phase: mitosis (nuclear division) and cytokinesis (division of the cytoplasm)
INTERPHASE STAGES
First gap phase (G1)
Cell size increase and makes mRNA and proteins needed for the S phase.
Synthesis (S)
DNA & Centrosome replicated
Second gap phase (G2)
Nucleus well defined • Rapid cell growth and protein synthesis • The cell prepares for mitosis
MITOSIS STAGES
P-MAT
Prophase
Metaphase
Anaphase
Telaphase
Key events of PROPHASE (mitosis)
Early Phrophase
DNA continues condensing.
Nuclear membrane disintegrates.
Nucleolus disintegrates.
Late Prophase
Chromosomes appear as chromatids.
Mitotic spindle forms.
Centrosomes move to opposite poles.
Key events of METAPHASE (mitosis)
Metaphase - Middle
Chromosomes line up on the equator of the cell.
Key events of ANAPHASE (mitosis)
Anaphase - Away
Early anaphase:
Chromosomes separate to opposite poles.
Late Anaphase:
Non-kinetochore microtubules elongate the cell.
Key events of TELAPHASE (mitosis)
Telophase- Telephone - GIMME UR TELEPHONE NUMBER SISTER 🙋♀️ !!
Nuclei reform.
Cell elongates and furrow develops.
Cytokinesis
Cytokinesis- Cya LATER SISTER!
Two independent cells.
