Archimedes' Principle
A principle stating that any object submerged in a fluid displaces a volume of liquid equal to its own volume.
Volume
A measure of how much space an object occupies.
Density
A measure of how much mass occupies a given volume. It indicates how tightly packed matter is.
Buoyancy
The net upward force that a fluid exerts on an object.
Atmospheric Pressure
The pressure exerted by the weight of the atmosphere, approximately 101 kPa at sea level.
Pressure
Force per unit area exerted on a surface, dependent on depth in a fluid.
Displacement Rule
A submerged object displaces a volume of liquid equal to its own volume.
Buoyant Force
The upward force that a fluid exerts on a submerged object, equal to the weight of the fluid displaced.
Fluid Dynamics
The branch of physics concerned with the movement of liquids and gases.
Hydrostatic Pressure
The pressure at a certain depth in a fluid, determined by the fluid's density and the depth.
