Importance of Teeth
Teeth help us to bite and chew food, give shape to the face, and help us speak clearly.
Milk Teeth (Temporary Teeth)
The first set of teeth in a child, typically appearing around six months old and numbering twenty by age three.
Permanent Teeth
The set of teeth that develops as a child grows, replacing milk teeth and totaling 32 teeth by adulthood.
Incisors
Teeth used for cutting and biting food; there are four in each jaw.
Canines
Sharp, pointed teeth used for tearing food.
Premolars
Broad teeth used for crushing food; located behind the canines.
Molars
Large, flat teeth used for grinding food; located at the back of the mouth.
Crown
The visible white part of the tooth.
Root
The part of the tooth that is fixed inside the gums.
Enamel
The hardest substance in the human body, which protects the tooth.
