anterior (ventral)

superficial
near the surface

sagittal plane
divides body into left and right

midsagittal plane
divides the body directly down the middle

parasagittal plane
Divides body into unequal right and left sides

frontal plane (coronal plane)
Divides the body into front and back portions.

transverse plane
horizontal division of the body into upper and lower portions

division of the posterior (dorsal) cavity that houses the brain

abdominal cavity
contains the greater part of the digestive tract, the liver and pancreas, the spleen, the kidneys, and the adrenal glands located above the kidneys
