A temporary blockage of blood flow that usually lasts less than five minutes to an hour.
Ischemic Stroke
Blockage: Blood clot or fatty plaque that blocks an artery leading to the brain.
Thrombotic type: Clot forms directly inside a brain vessel
Embolic type: Clot forms in another part of the body (like the heart) and travels to the brain
Hemorrhagic Stroke
Bleeding: Happens when a weakened blood vessel in the brain bursts or leaks.
