Interpret
Explain the meaning of something/a source.
Cause
The reason why something or an event happened.
Effect
The consequence or result of an event.
Ambiguous
Has multiple meanings and can be interpreted differently.
Generate
To create and produce something.
Sequencing
Applying each step in a specific order.
Contrasts
Pointing out and finding differences.
Generalizations
A general statement created by observation.
Inference
A conclusion drawn from the information you have.
Conclusion
A summary based on evidence or facts.
Timelines
Show important events in chronological order or time order.
Charts
Visual representations of numerical data (e.g., Pie Graph, Line Chart, Histogram, Scatter Plot, etc.).
Infographics
Visual representations of information or data.
Maps
An illustration of land or other geographic, political, or historical features.
Primary Source
Sources made by someone who was actually present for the event, such as videos, diaries, photographs, letters.
Secondary Source
Sources made by someone who was NOT present at the event, such as textbooks, articles, newspapers, documentaries.
Historian's Role
To research, interpret, and analyze the past by examining sources and explaining historical events.
CRAAP Test
A test to determine if a source is credible: C - Currency, R - Relevant, A - Authority, A - Accuracy, P - Purpose.
Plagiarism
Examples include copying and pasting, not using quotation marks (for direct quotes), not saying where you got your information from, and pretending that someone's else work is your own/original idea.
