"I wanted to get somebody for him"
Shows Nick's desperation to get people to attend the funeral as he makes countless phone calls to people that he believed cared about Gatsby however they all refuse to come. Tom and Daisy even conveniently go on a trip abroad just as the funeral is taking place.
"But it wasn't any use. Nobody came"
This shows that despite Nick's best efforts nobody came to Gatsby's funeral even though his death was all over the media and everybody knew. This shows the carelessness of the wealthy as they were all happy to attend his lavish parties where they could enjoy many luxuries such as alcohol but couldn't be bothered to go to the funeral and pay their respects to him.
"After Gatsby's death, the East haunted me like that, distorted behind my eyes' power of correction"
Nick can no longer go to East Egg as he is reminded of all of the people there who used to attend Gatsby's parties but now he is reminded of their utter disregard for Gatsby as they aren't bothering to show up to his funeral. This further highlights the carelessness of the wealthy.
"They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made."
Nick now sees Tom and Daisy's selfishness. They spent time with Gatsby when he was alive but as soon as he died they no longer wanted to be associated with him. This shows how careless Tom and Daisy are as despite the fact that Daisy loved him she immediately went back into her comfortable and luxurious life in East Egg and pretended as though she never knew or loved him.
"Probably it was some final guest who had been away at the ends of the earth and didn't know that the party was over."
This shows how people only truly knew Gatsby as the person who threw the lavish parties with endless amounts of alcohol. Nobody ever bothered to know him and only used him to enjoy these parties. As a result nobody wanted to go to his funeral. This shows the carelessness of the wealthy as none of them showed up at the funeral to pay their respects or gratitude for him throwing these parties.

Conclusion
'The Great Gatsby' by F . Scott Fitzgerald has an effective conclusion as it highlights the isolation of Gatsby. Despite him throwing countless parties which the upper class would enjoy, they ended up being meaningless as nobody was interested in getting to know him and only wanted to enjoy the luxuries there like the endless amounts of alcohol. This highlights the carelessness of the upper class as they just use people to get what they want and disregard them when they are no longer of use to them. This shows the falseness of Gatsby's life as not even his true love Daisy who he spent a lot of his life trying to be with showed up despite her claims that she loved him. This further highlights the carelessness of the wealthy.
