Pharmacist License Application Deadline
Must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the desired exam date.
Pharmacist Application Expiration
Expires exactly 1 year after the date of submission.
NAPLEX
North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination.
MPJE
Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination.
Exam Attempt Limit
A candidate is allowed exactly 5 attempts at the NAPLEX and MPJE.
Pharmacist License Renewal Notification
The Board must notify pharmacists of renewal prior to November 1st annually.
Active License Status
A license that was renewed with the required form and fee by December 31st.
Inactive License Status
Status where a pharmacist requests to be moved prior to December 31st; they must still pay the annual fee but do not require CE credits.
Expired License Status
Status occurring if a license is not renewed prior to the end of the day on December 31st.
Late Renewal Fee
An additional fee of $500 if the renewal is even one minute past the December 31st deadline.
Delinquent License Fee
Additional $250 fee added if a pharmacist waits beyond January 31st to renew.
Military Priority Status
Applicants who are active duty or dependents receive a decision on their application within 30 days.
Military Special Work Pass
A pass valid for 120 days that allows practice prior to passing the MPJE for qualified military personnel or dependents.
Military Dependent Age Qualification
Individuals under 24 if in college or under 21 if not in college who are financially dependent on active duty personnel.
CPE Requirement (Standard)
Pharmacists must complete 15 hours of CPE per year if at least 3 hours are live.
CPE Requirement (Non-Live)
Pharmacists must complete 20 hours of CPE per year if less than 3 hours are live.
NABP CPE Monitor
The system the Board uses to verify that all CPE hours were completed prior to license renewal.
CPE Topic Designator '03'
Indicates the Continuing Education is related to Pharmacy Law.

CPE Target Group 'P'
Indicates the CE credit is specifically for a Pharmacist.
CPE Target Group 'T'

CEU
Continuing Education Units, where each unit is equivalent to one hour of class time.
HCP Dependent Expedited Review
Allows expedited licensure for dependents of healthcare professionals practicing in Louisiana.
Address Change Notification
Pharmacists must notify the board in writing within 10 days of moving.
Employment Change Notification
Pharmacists must notify the board in writing within 10 days of changing jobs.
Impaired Pharmacist
A condition posing a danger to the public, including alcoholism, substance abuse, mental illness, or physical illness.
Drug-Utilization Review (DUR)
A review required prior to dispensing involving seven steps to ensure patient safety.

Patient Counseling Requirements
Must include name, dosage form, route, side effects, self-monitoring, storage, and refills.
Verbal Counseling Rule
Written information may only supplement, not replace, verbal counseling.
Patient Profile Data
Reasonable attempt must be made to obtain name, address, phone, DOB, gender, allergies, and current medications.
Counseling Waiver
A patient cannot sign a waiver saying they never want to be counseled.
Emergency Refill Duration
A pharmacist may dispense up to a 90 day supply during a declared State of Emergency.
Emergency Prescription Labeling
Must be hand-written and include the words 'Emergency Prescription'.
Vaccine Administration Training

Pharmacy Technician Candidate (PTC)
A person registered with the Board training to be a pharmacy technician.
PTC Minimum Age
Must be at least 18 years old (16 if in a specific LA Dept of Ed Career Path).
PTC License Lifespan
Exactly 24 months and is non-renewable.
PTC Leaving Program
Must relinquish license within 10 days of leaving the training program.
PTC Practice Hours Requirement
If the training program does not provide it, the PTC must obtain 600 hours of pharmacy practice.
Pharmacy Technician Renewal Date

CPT License
A certified pharmacy technician license obtainable after practicing for one year in another state.

No more than 2 tech candidates are allowed per supervising pharmacist.
